About the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council
MidMEAC’s Mission is to increase environmental stewardship. The Council is partnering with public agencies, neighborhood organizations, and private groups on a plan to fix our community’s most polluted outlet to the Red Cedar River. We are working to inform area residents and visitors about strategies they can use to reduce their pollution footprint.
About Art in the Wild
MidMEAC’s Art in the Wild Committee is growing a fund to bring public art together with applied environmental science in a program devoted to improving water quality. Public art will bring clean-water educational information installed on the environmental reclamation site to a wider audience. We are truly grateful to Artist Linda Beeman for donating her work, “Shy That Way” to be featured on our site.
The Committee’s first effort will focus on plans to transform the Michigan Avenue corridor between Lansing’s east side and East Lansing/Michigan State University. Our vision is to place art that engages our senses and imagination, drawing visitors to a destination that celebrates our community’s economic growth, green spaces and water resources.
